Taney County 911 went "on-line" November 30, 1993.
There are two communications centers that answer all of the 911 calls in Taney
County.
All 911 calls made within the city limits of Branson are answered at the
Branson Police Department. All 911 calls made outside of Branson are
answered at the Taney County Sheriff's Department. The Sheriff's
Department also answers all 911 calls made from a cellular (wireless) phone.
Any 911 caller that needs medical assistance is connected with the
Taney County Ambulance District.
Between November 1993 and December 2001 there were a total of 176,576 - 911
calls made to our system. 49,996 were answered by the Branson Police
Department and the Taney County Sheriff's Department answered 126,580.
The cost for Taney County 911 is included in your monthly wireline telephone
bill. The charge is currently 10% of the basic line rate. Long distance
charges are not included in this rate.
 The 911 Administration Office operates under the Taney County Commission.
All 911 funds are kept separate from General County Revenue per State
Statute. These funds are spent on the operation of the 911 system, the
Administration Office expenses and salaries for the staff in this office.
A contract-for-service fee is paid to Branson Police Department and to
the Taney County Sheriff's Department to answer the 911 calls.
This office oversees all addressing within the County except for Merriam
Woods and the City of Branson. These two entities are responsible for
addressing their citizens. In addition, our office makes sure that road
name signs are in place, prepares and submits the annual budget for the 911
system, assigns addresses to new developments and works with Verizon on all
daily service order activity to assure that everyone has the correct address.
We are currently working closely with the Taney County Information
Systems Department on a county GIS system.
The Taney County 911 Administration Office performs a wide variety of tasks
but the most important of these is assuring that any person that calls 911
in Taney County is assisted correctly and promptly.
